Welcome
Whether you are at the very beginning of your journey of self-discovery or are a seasoned seeker on your path -- or perhaps you are needing some more urgent relief from pain, suffering, or overwhelm -- you've come to the right place.

The impulse to change -- yourself or your circumstances -- often arises out of pain. We have outgrown who we were but are not fully yet our selves-to-be. Old coping mechanisms no longer work; judgements and fear set in. I help you find your self-compassion, befriend your emotions, and learn new coping skills. I assist you in healing your trauma and developmental wounding in order to achieve greater well-being, better relationships, and more fulfilling work & play. Creating a safe, caring environment in which to engage in a deep, authentic process is my intention.
Since 1993 I have helped people reach deep states of peace and self-acceptance, insight and growth, and healing and transformation. Relief from anxiety, depression, trauma, and developmental wounding can come quickly with somatic therapy. The healing that happens holds because it's not just from cognitive understanding and awareness; it's from the body as well, which rewires the brain. Change occurs and stays, and relief can be experienced as early as the first session.
Somatic & Trauma Psychotherapy: Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Brainspotting and EMDR are outstanding treatments for trauma, abuse and PTSD, while Empathic Body Processing addresses developmental wounding, anxiety, addiction, stress, relationships, and more. Somatic therapy creates collaboration between the body, emotions and mind to regulate the nervous system and emotions, heal trauma, rewire the brain, and gain deeper insights that are integrated more quickly and lead to lasting change. Somatic therapy can also relieve the physical manifestations of psycho-emotional stress (such as chronic fatigue or chronic pain).
Transpersonal Therapy recognizes that we are more than bodies and minds. We participate in a larger something that connects all beings -- call it the creative-love intelligence of the universe, the unified field, the collective unconscious, or God. Transpersonal therapy integrates the spiritual aspect of the human experience into psychotherapy -- the degree to which that is brought into the therapeutic process is up to the client.
I ground both somatic and transpersonal approaches in a Psychodynamic/Relational orientation which seeks to link the here and now experience with the past in order to clarify, then release, the hold the past has over us. The therapeutic relationship between client and therapist itself becomes a powerful healing tool. Therapy with me takes place in an atmosphere of warmth, humor, safety, and compassion.
I have helped people individually, as couples, and in groups, workshops, and retreats in the U.S. and abroad. My work has been an integral part of outpatient and inpatient programs for addiction and trauma. It is my great joy and privilege to witness and participate in the healing of a client. If it feels right for you, I can't wait to be a part of your journey.

Somatic & Trauma Psychotherapy
'Somatic' means of or relating to the body, especially as distinct from the mind. In somatic psychotherapy we go to the body for information and healing that is otherwise unattainable through the mind alone. I use Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Brainspotting and EMDR for trauma and PTSD, and Empathic Body Processing for developmental wounding, anxiety, and more.
